Bicton is a suburb nestled along the Swan River on the south side of Perth. It was established in the 1830s by John Hole Duffield as a vineyard and became the colony’s first commercially operated vineyard.. The traditional owners of the area , the Beeliar of the indigenous people, used the sandbar at Point Walter as a crossing . It was known as Dyoondalup (place of white sand).
